County court claim

Hi, 

We received a county court claim which we have now paid, I just need some help on how to post this onto to sage and wether VAT is applicable or not? 

The original supplier account still has outstanding invoices but the claims payment was made to a solicitor. Can anyone help please?

    Thanks for contacting us using Sage City.

    Sadly we aren't able to advise if the county court claim is vatable or not, you will need to seek guidance from an accountant or HMRC directly.

    IF the transaction hasn't been paid directly to the supplier but to the solicitor you could write the invoice off by creating a credit note against the invoice and then enter a separate payment for the claim when you know what vat rate is appropriate.
