Switching VAT accounting method.

Question

Hi Everyone. 
 Does anybody know how and when I can change my VAT accounting method from Standard to Cash Accounting? I&rsquo;m about to submit my first return to HMRC via the software and I notice that I&rsquo;m set to Standard by default. 
 Grateful for any advice as I&rsquo;m a newbie!
