How do I turn off Captcha? I have more than adequate security on my system and do not like Captcha. It takes too long and is far from reliable. Thanks

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for using Sage City
I notice this query hasn't had a community response.
I'm sorry for any difficulties you've had completing the Captcha security checks. Unfortunately, where the Captcha window is displayed this cannot be disabled, as it appears when your software interacts with online resources and systems outside of the payroll software.

Agree it needs to be an option to turn off. I have 20 companies and have to wait for this to come up for every one!!! its time consuming that i dont have time for
My PC is blocking the Captcha, so I have to skip it twice, every time I change company. It's very annoying and can't find out what's blocking it. All the help refers to Captcha in internet browsers, not Sage. Once I've done it once for each company (if I can work out how to unblock it), will it stop (PLEASE)?
It takes around 45 seconds to get through the reminders that are about 10 years old and not relevant, then skip the blank recaptcha screen, skip again and then long pause before you can actually start any work. We will replace Sage payroll after next year end if this issue is not sorted.
I agree with all the comments and am also looking for alternative software partly because of this - way too time consuming to keep skipping it because it doesn't work properly on an already hectic wages day!
The problem with the blank Captcha looks to be caused be directory permissions, specifically C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage SBD which I found by forcing the desktop icon to run as admin. Not saying this is the right thing to do (and maybe it can be narrowed down to specific users) but I changed the security on this folder and added "Everyone" and gave it full permissions then re-opened payroll and the captcha code appears correctly allowing you to click the relevant images. This seems to have stopped it re-appearing on subsequent opens of the software but I'm not sure if this is time sensitive and will ask again tomorrow.
Hope this helps.
Bit of a pain but you can delete the reminders through the calendar if they won't complete on the pop-up screen
So many of these pointless pops for each company, why are we even forced to opt in and give Sage all of out clients employee detials? It should be an option to OPT IN, not forcing us to upload all thier data to your platform to share with your banking partners, UNTILL WE OPT OUT! No one ever agreed to that, it certainly isnt in any Sage Payroll users T&C's with thier clients. You dont have permission to use that data, so why force us to give it to you? I guarantee most users have absolutely no idea that you do that.
When are you going to sort this out? I can't believe the reminders are still an issue after so many years of it (they don't dismiss, you have to go into Calendar / Details to get rid of them) and the Captcha thing is very irritating. If it doesn't work for most people, what is the point? Please sort it out. Please. Please. Please.
Did it work or did you just get 7 days and have to do it all again?
Hi Max, Thanks for your feedback.
The T&Cs for Sage 50 Payroll were changed to upload the data to our network for analysis and benchmarking use so we can learn more about how it's used to help develop more services of real value.
The data is available for the employment verification services if you do not opt out, but this can be done at any time for companies or individuals. This service is there to speed up the process for employees, and is not sharing data at point of pass to Sage only upon application for a financial service and if EE consents to a search
The data is not shared with any 3rd parties unless at point of application for financial services the employee specifically authorises the search to validate earnings instead of supplying payslips as pdfs (or other document types).

The captcha still isn't working and having to skip it each time I change from one company to another, my security is quite adequate and if this isn't working anyway why is it still there? It takes so long to log into each company that I have to switch between several times that wages day is a struggle. For the amount I have to pay, this shouldn't still be an issue!
Hi Mick , thanks for the update. permissions are the most likely problem as the Recaptcha is trying to use a setup on your pc and if cannot load will give the blank page,
once completed for a company it will not return as it writes into the database to say completed
Hi Sarah,
please email me directly at [email protected] as i can switch this off for you.

Thanks for that. I did get quite excited until I realised I had to do something fairly complicated and then keep whatever it was I downloaded on my desktop. I don't have to do this for other software, why do I have to do it for Sage. Its obvious customers do not like it so why can't you just make it optional in the programme - just as you do with those opening messages - "don't show that again". Please!
Hi Lynne ,
Thanks for you feedback
The desktop file is to bypass what is an error on your system.
The Recaptcha only needs confirming once and never again, a bit like the don't show me again option you have mentioned but as there is something stopping it coming up properly on your PC (usually access rights) the file on the article will stop it completely.
We are looking at making it simpler but for now i wanted to save you the time of skipping each time.
most customers (over 99%) have completed the tick and never see it again but for anyone stuck with the error where you have to skip instead of complete i wanted to help .
Regards
Steve
