SAGE 50 HR setup from SAGE payroll data

Dear all,

We have just installed SAGE HR on a local desktop. We are attempting to import data from SAGE Payroll which we use on a separate desktop.

So that SAGE HR can see our Payroll data, I have saved the PAYROLL.MDB file unto an external drive and then tried to import into SAGE HR from the external drive.

We are getting an error message "please specify a valid location for the SAGE payroll database".

Please advise on alternate methods we can try to get SAGE HR to recognise the SAGE PAYROLL data without having both software installed upon the same desktop.

Many thanks,

Bam

  • Good Morning Bam,

On the PC where Sage 50 HR is installed, go to www.sage.com/uk/hrupdates. On this page there 2 available updates to run. Usually just the second one, Sage 50cloud Payroll and HR import update, is required but you are not going to cause any problems by installing them both.

Please note, that I would advise downloading and saving the file, open the containing folder and then right-click to run the installation as administrator.

Once installed, you should be able to import the data without further issue.

    Kind Regards

  • Morning Karley,

I've installed both updates as administrator following your advice and then restarted the desktop.

I'm still getting the same error message of

"please specify a valid location for the SAGE payroll database

What else could I try to access the SAGE PAYROLL data?

    Kind regards,

    Bam

  • Hi Bam,

The next thing to try would be to install a copy of the Sage 50 Payroll software on the HR machine. This should be the same version as you are using on the Payroll machine.

You do not need to open the Sage 50 Payroll software or connect it to your live data.

Let me know how you get on.

    Kind Regards
