Shared reports when using remote data access.

I have set up some users as remote data access users. When I run the first sync - download data - when the user is first connected, I see the accounts data files and the reports and layouts from the master data set being download into the local sync set.

But I'm not clear what reports these are, or how reports are synchronised if new reports are added on the server.  Should the remote users be set to "use reports on the server" in their company settings? Are the reports that are synchronised the ones belonging to the manager user?

I assume that reports in the "My nominal reports" folder are contained within the local client reports folder?  Or is there a per user folder located in the server data location if you have "Use reports on the server" switched on?

I'm finding it a bit confusing!

Perhaps someone could explain exactly where these reports are for master and remote sites - although I'm aware that since v28, there is no longer any difference.

Cheers

    Hi Stephen,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

With regards to reports and layouts, these won't synchronise across Remote Data Access sites. So it won't matter which setting you have in regards to reporting.

If you create a report or layout on of of the sites, to get that to other sites, you'd need to backup reports and/or layouts only and restore it on to the other computers.

Before doing any kind of restore, make sure you backup the current data and reports/layouts as well.
