Hi,

When we were sold Sage50 we were told there were no limits on data except a cap of 1.5 Million transactions. That's one of the reasons we moved.

BUT I have just found a reference online that:

Sage recommend:

Less than 1,000,000 transactions
Less than 50,000 invoices/purchase orders/sales orders
Less than 2,000 customer records/supplier records
Less than 20,000 product records
Less than 2,000 project records

Is this the case? We use about 10K new customers a year, which looks like an issue, even if it isn't a 'hard limit' that's well over the customer record list recommendation.

    Hi Iain,

    You're probably referring to https://gb-kb.sage.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=200519133847513&hypermediatext=null .

Historically always been an issue as sage is a 32 bit operating system, it will cause performance issue and most likely lead to corruption. As you've stated 32k customers looks like you may have one of orders that come from a website, I may be wrong.

You could look at clearing audit trial/archiving. How many new customers you get a year, if you're getting 5k to 10k new customers every year then sage 50 unfornualty in the long run maybe an issue.

I've helped a few customers recently who have grown who had to make a jump from sage 50 to sage 200 standard/Pro as it helps improve performance with that volume of data.

    Hello.

As far as I know clearing an audit trail will just remove transactions. We are no-where near that limit, its the customer records. It was sold to us after extensive communications and I'm sure I mentioned that our previous system had a hard limit of 10K which meant we had to create a new company file every year.
That is now my only option, as after taking all this time to integrate it and set it up I'm not keen on paying significantly more just so we can have a file with 3 or 4 years old records on it, where another limit kicks in..
I do wish the sales-person had known about these advisories, I did ask about all limits.

I checked my emails, we specifically stated in our enquiry..

Do have have customer name list limit per company file? We need about 12,000 customer names per year.

We have clearly been mis-sold. We will be pursuing some recompense from Sage as we have just wasted many month of integration for a totally unsuitable product.

    Not happy.
