Sage general crashing issues

We recently upgraded from V28 to a newer version of V28 and then to V29, and have had no end of issues with people crashing out, the .dta files stopping people able to get in and reports crashing when they are supposed to be running.

After lengthy conversations with sage they have recommended us to get our data size down, invoices and sales orders are now below 50k and the splits is only around 180k, and after categorically confirming with one of the sage support team that this was within the thresholds, we are still having issues and now the sage team are blaming the number of products we have. We have reduced the number of products in the past and it has made no difference whatsoever. Sage also recommended looking at the size of images on our reports but these haven't changed and we've been using these for years?

We seem to be having real challenges getting any meaningful support from Sage, it seems there is some issue with the updates that were done and we are just having all sorts of issues now. Needless to say we have been considering upgrading our system for a while now, and this is not a quick process but in the meantime Sage 200 is clearly not a product we'd consider given the support we've had on Sage 50!

Has anyone had similar issues with Sage showing out of memory, crashing regularly and creating .dta files which crashes sage for everyone, and does anyone know a fix for this? We're at a bit of a loss as to how to sort this, and it only seems to have really happened since we started upgrading from an older version of V28 we had.

Be glad of any help as it's proving a bit of a challenge.

We have also been experiencing random crashes on V29.

These range from Sage just crashing out (randomly) when changing stock allocations on an order to Sage crashing out  when running reports that have been working fine on literately years.

We also get random out of memory crashes occasionally when printing reports that have worked for years.
This happens on different machines and at different times.

Luckily it's not regular enough to force a full investigation, maybe once or twice a month. and the standard "Restart your PC" response to the users tends to fix it.
Although yes, we do have the dreaded locked queue.dta file issue occasionally when this happens.
We always check the data when this happens and luckily not had any corruption issues yet.

Yes we too have been having very similar issues affecting us over the last 2/3 weeks. The odd thing is that is hasnt affected all the machines using Sage on the network but others it is affecting them constantly all day. We have tried numerous things to rectify the issues, but no joy.

Are you running yours on Windows 11? We are wondering if it has something to do with this.

Ours are a mixture of Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines.

Hello, We have also been experiencing many crashing to desktop problems with Sage since V28.1 updates.

Affects all users and if run on main server, it crashes out in all modules, Invoices, Customers, running report, VAT return - its very random.

Our data-size was large, but before update we never had any issues! We yearly cleanse, so a rolling large file over 3 years with no issues...

On speaking to support, I reduced the data by over 50% well under guidelines, exactly the same problems.

I also installed Sage V28 on separate PC we use for video editing, very powerful. We still saw the same problems. So I reduced data down by 90%, still the same problems. We also got crashes during re-index and compress, if this happened, the database was un-usable and Sage would just stick at start screen. We had to restore from backup and create new ACCDATA folder. Time consuming!

I have then installed V29 on same PC, check data and re-index say ALL OK, however we still experience random crashes. So back to V28 from same day backup.

I have also done full un-install on server and remotes - manually removing all folders (program data, App Data, Program Files, Temp etc)- so very clean, then re-installing, made no difference!

Got told we need to upgrade to cloud version with larger limits, however due to fact reduced data-size by 90% and that before V28.1 we had no crashes at all, I feel this is 100% a problem in the Sage software.

As per always, Sage do not say there is a problem, just blame it on data size etc. I have noticed limits for V29 seem much lower than previous versions.

Sage, you need to find a fix ASAP please. V29 is crashing more than V28.1.404.0

    Hi,

I've seen a few of these threads and I believe these are most likely down to three things, we are IT company and a Sage business partner so our Sage customer data sizes are enormous:

Data size - check for perofmance and you're under the threshold: https://gb-kb.sage.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=200519133847513&hypermediatext=null

    Environment: Antivirus/Firewall/third party backup routines

VPN issues, don't connect via a vpn.

Lastly we've started moving customers to a hosted/azure enviornment and hardly see these issues for our customers, something to think about.

    Hi,

With the references to crashes in reporting and out of memory messages, I wondered if this article might be useful: Error - Sage Report Designer is unable to generate a report - out of memory >

We also have been noting a number of crashes since the latest update.  A lot of the time its when we drill down, so if we have a PO drafted, its fine on the listing, but when we drill down into the PO (to add items, or place it on order), the system just kicks the user out.  We've looked into all factors to see if we can pinpoint any commonality (network usage, module, user, etc) but the only common factor is V29

I’ve recently upgraded to windows 11 and version 29.2

My system crashes regularly throughout the day for no apparent reason. Also occasionally displays an error message when emailing to outlook causing me to have to log out and back in.

Issue when updating ledgers it crashes once the preview report appears.

We’ve nine machines on our network 2 of which are windows 11 and these are the only 2 causing issues. Never had these issues before the upgrade.

I’ve been in contact with sage god knows how many times and tried a lot of different trouble shooting processes but still the problem persists and they blame our network and environmental for the problems we’re having.

I’m really running out of ideas now and getting more and more frustrated.
