Monitoring and reporting fixed asset expenditure against budget

We have a healthy annual fixed asset budget which requires regular monitoring and the preparation of reports appropriate to the level of management. 

We use advances departments in depth and the system allows for budgets to be applied to the fixed asset nominal codes and when expenditure against those nominal codes is recorded it appears in the department budget input screen.

Sage however cannot output ANY report that will set out actual expenditure against budget for fixed asset nominal codes.  Therefore to prepare a budget report, an Excel activity report has to be run for each fixed asset nominal code, restructured against departments, then each department totaled, and the data transferred to the report table.  Also the monthly budget for each department has to be manually entered into the table.  

Does anyone have a more efficient way to do this?
