Duplicate Vat submission error message and script errors

On attempting to submit April Vat return, having granted permission, I encountered script errors but continued. I then got a submission error message, so repeated this, as suggested. The next time I got another error message stating that this was a duplicate submission.  When I checked the HMRC account my Vat return had not been received for April and was showing due, but still I keep getting the same duplicate submission error and script errors.  I do not seem to be able to submit via the Sage system at all.

    Are you able to provide the full, exact wording or screen shots of the errors you’re receiving?

    What is your full Version Number showing as in the Program Details section of Help > About?

    What is your Variant showing as in the Licence Information section of Help > About?

    I still have no answers from either Sage or HMRC.   Can anybody help?  I have done all that is suggested and my Sage50 cloud is fully activated.  The return simply will not go and shows duplicate error yet HMRC have not received it and suggest it is the software at fault and they can do nothing.  Sage help tells me to tell HMRC to cancel any submission and re-submit but as HMRC have never received one they cannot do this - HELP!

    Hi Carole.

    It might be worth contacting us to run through this. However, to resubmit your return:

    1. Take a backup of your data as it stands now.
    2. Go to File > Restore > restore to the backup file, prior to this first VAT submission.
    3. Go to Settings > Company Preferences > VAT tab > tick 'Enable MTD for VAT submissions' > ok.
    4. Try submit your VAT return again.
    5. If that works, restore back to the backup file taken in step 1

    I did all this and I still got the sme anser as 'duplicate submissionl. the Vat return was already submitted for the given period.

    I really do not know where to go from here!

    If you're still getting the error after trying this, I think we'll need to investigate further in real time. If you give our support team a call, or start a webchat and we'll take a closer look from there.
