Try logging out of Sage and back in again.  I had the same problem and someone else on here mentioned it yesterday too - a white screen appears and the green circle goes around and gets nowhere.

I have tried that several times but it still wont work.

What exactly are you seeing?  This was my second MTD submission (first one done in January) and I got different errors with each, both times resolved on my PC not HRMC or Sage.

It says contacting HMRC and then I see the sign in icon in the top left hand corner but nothing else happens.

Sounds like the error I got yesterday but mine cleared when I logged out of Sage back in again. Sorry it's not working for you. When I logged back in there was a lot of processing going on in the background and it seemed to need to reset itself before letting me back in.

When I ran my first MTD return in January the security settings on my PC needed changing before I could connect so if you're on a network it's worth trying on a different PC.

Presumably you have ticked the MTD box in Settings?

When you do get through, watch out for the HMRC screen that tells you to log in to Government Gateway. It reads as though you have to do that separately but there's a Continue button at the bottom that was completely hidden on my screen and caused no end of grief.

Hello everyone

Normally this happens if you have firewall and/or antivirus running on the background on the PC through which you are trying to submit the VAT. Simply temporarily disable the antivirus and submit the VAT through Sage. It will go through normal and once submitted you can enable the antivirus again.
