DELETING PRODUCT RECORDS

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP FROM AN OLD THREAD BY IAN CAIRNS, REGARDING TRYING TO DELETE PRODUCTS. WHATEVER I DO MY PC JUST HANGS. BELOW IS THE LAST MESSAGE IN THE THREAD. I TRIED THIS AGAIN TODAY AND AFTER 5 HOURS OF HANGING I CRASHED OUT. THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS:

TMPDATA.TMP is in use

Hi,

One thing you may want to try is doing a re-index and compress on your product records prior to doing the delete routine. This will ensure the database is in a good position to perform such a data intensive routine.

You can find out about reindex and how to run it here. Please take a backup before running it.

I would again recommend running this on the server machine that holds the company data.

    As Nicola suggests, but I'd also recommend running a Sage Check Data within the system via File > Maintenance > Check Data to check your systems for any glitches.

    We also have a free Sage 50 Health Check program you can run on each of the machines that hold Sage which will run a diagnostic and speed test and tell you if there any potential issues and report on what to fix to help with these. Just check out my bio and get in touch if you'd like me to send it to you.
