What is the solution?

SUGGESTED

We have a small-to-medium company, using Sage50.  Several big issues: at present our departmental managers and directors don't get to see any financial information until after our month-end, so we need real-time reporting e.g. an info.dashboard. We have a complex departmental structure and the standard Sage reports apparently can't produce monthly P&Ls for each department. We do all our budgeting and comparing budgets to results on Excel, with data extracted from Sage

What do we need?  Do we need another version of Sage, or something like sage2sql that links to Sage in real time?

    Hi Christine,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

Can you go to Help > About > under program details section, tell me the full version number and also tell me the variant from under the licence information section please?

In regards to the report you require as well, are you just looking for a regular P&L layout but one which you can run for each department? For example, run it for department 1 and print/preview it, then department 2 and print/preview etc. Or are you wanting each department side by side on the same report?

    Kind regards,

    Sean,

    Hi Sean,

    Thanks for replying.

    Version no. is 25.1.128.0

Variant is Sage 50Cloud Accounts Professional

Probably each department side by side, or underneath each other, and exported to Excel (for now).  I'm not too sure of the fine details of the reporting needed - a colleague deals with that. Apparently they asked Sage a while ago and were told that it wasn't possible, but maybe it is time to ask again (we have the helpline as part of our package).

This is more a broad enquiry as to what is the next step in terms of upgrading, not just a single report.

We particularly need help with real-time information on expenditure and a dashboard or summary of some sort that managers can see, instead of Finance department circulating 'the accounts' some weeks after month end.

Also need a way of doing complex budgeting and comparisons to monthly expenditure that doesn't just rely on Excel.

I don't use SQL (yet) but like the idea of learning - could this be the way to go?

    Thanks Christine.

Looking at the reporting side of things, it would be something that would have to be requested as a report design request, which is a chargeable service if the report is even possible. You can book a consultation using this form if needed: Report Design Request

In regards to upgrading, the next step up from what you currently have, would be Sage 200 which is a bespoke system. If you would like someone to contact you regarding this, drop me a private message with your Sage account number and current telephone number and get that sorted for you.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

Hi Christine. The cloud based CRM we have just released has unlimited built-in dashboards and widgets, with the ability to create your own, not only for Sage 50, with which it integrates seamlessly, but other data sources you might want to be pulling info from. Widgets have drill down capabilities. Data is real time.

I think we can solve your problems without your business having to move to Sage 200.

Why don´t you book a demo and discuss the technical requirements in detail with one of our consultants. https://calendly.com/xapsyscrm/xapsys-crm-demonstration

We have a 14 days free trial you can jump on at https://www.xapsys.com but it´s bet to ensure we can deliver exactly what you want first.

    Kindest regards

Many thanks Hugo.  I will be exploring all options as time permits, so will keep this link.

Options at the moment seem to be to upgrade Sage ( 200 or Intacct ??), or get a program that will live-link the data from our current Sage for display and further analysis - could be SQL or MS Power BI or something similar. Ideally need a package that also helps with annual budgeting, and producing the 'final accounts' in a more streamlined way (i.e. without days of work on Excel), not just a live dashboard for managers. We may need more than one 'solution'.

We haven't even started to look at costs or a budget for this - just doing broad exploring at present.

    Hi Christine

We can do exactly what you describe. Budget wise, it wouldn t be 100% bespoke prices as the core platform works and links with Sage 50 out of the box. (fully tested and approved by Sage). It would be a case of adding the necessary tweaks to meet your requirements such as wrtitting the queries to produce the widgets and reports you need.

On your other financial and budgeting point, have you tried https://cascade50.com/ ?

Plugs into Sage 50 in 5 min and gives you lits of financial insights. Unlike our solution, their data is refreshed daily but that might be enough for certain reports

    Kindest regards

    Hugo
