Cloud 50 Accounts Essentials functionality

SUGGESTED
Posted By FormerMember

I use Cloud 50 and recently upgraded to the latest version

Is there an overview of how the "cloud" system works.

I have a "main" machine, also a version on a laptop and my accountant/bookeeper can also access.

I got a message yesterday that the "main" machine was offline and that anything I did on the laptop could be overwrittem when it came back on line.

That isn't the behaviour I would expect from a conventional cloud application.

Any enlightenment gratefully received.

That's because it is not a true cloud application. Sage 50 is an on premise application that stores its data locally on the PC or network server. There are extra "cloud" features, like cloud backup, Office 365 integration, and data synchronization using Sage Drive. Sharing a Sage data set with Sage Drive relies on two way sync between the "master" machine to a copy of the data held in the Sage Drive cloud storage, which can then be used to sync to a slave or remote copy of Sage running elsewhere. It is never truly live or in real time, and relies on the internet connections of both master and slave, and, of course, that the master machine is switched on in order to sync.

If you really need true live real time access to your Sage data from local and remote sites, you could go for one of the hosted Sage solutions that are out there, or you could set it up on your own server and allow Remote Desktop access. See your IT guys for this. We use this for our own accounts and many of our clients do as well.

Or of course you could also change you accounting package to the proper Sage Business Cloud solution.
