Training on Sage Report Designer

SUGGESTED

I've used Sage for years, and have a tiny bit of self taught experience in Report Designer. I'm looking to plug the holes in my knowledge but can't find a book or anything like that online. Can anyone recommend a good way of getting training in report designer?

I spoke to Sage before when I was looking to build a new report and they wouldn't tell me how to do it myself, they wanted to build the report for me. That's no good when I want to change it later though.

I'm the same Catriona. It's like breaking into the KGB, what's the big secret? Is report designer a powerful reporting tool or is it a waste of space overtaken by better systems? It has got to be one of the most confusing looking features ever. None of it seems intuitive, what the hell is Audit_Split header, could they not have come up with something in plain English.

    Hi Jimmy and Catriona,

Unsure what you need to report on but there are now some add-ons that will do that for you:

    - Roveel is an excellent tool for financial reporting

    - Castaway is great for cahflow and forecasting

    - Xapsys CRM has built in business intelligence with unlimited dashboards/widgets/reports that can easily be configured to report on anything coming from Sage 50, plus you can also connect other data sources.

Check them out, they all have free trial and plugNplay Sage 50 connectors

    kindest regards

Hi Jimmy. To answer your query about whether it's a "powerful reporting tool" - to be honest, it depends what you're looking to achieve. There's always reporting outside of Sage using the ODBC Connection MS Query tools to achieve something more sophisticated at no extra cost. It's really more a case of figuring out what you want the end result to be and determining the best tool to get you from A to B. Happy to have a chat about it if you need clarity.
