Cloud Backup

SUGGESTED

I'm getting an error reported by email after each attempt at cloud backup;

"An error while uploading files for backup of dataset: Cheers Wine Merchants Limited .\nReason: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Normal scheduled backup is working fine. Any ideas what the above means?

    Hi Fred,

This can happen if you’re using Windows 10 and .Net 3.5 isn’t installed or activated. To resolve this issue you should download and install the Sage Accounts - Microsoft .Net Update:

    1. You can download this here.
    2. Once downloaded, double-click the downloaded file.
    3. When you receive the message 'Press any key to exit', press any key.
    4. Restart your computer then open Sage Accounts.

If the issue persists you should manually activate Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5:

    1. Hold down the Windows key and press X then click Control Panel.
    2. Click Programs then click Programs and Features. Or, if your Control Panel is set to view by icons, just click Programs and Features.
    3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Select the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 check box, so it shows as full or ticked , then click OK. If you expand Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, there are two options in relation to HTTP activation, leave these as you find them.
    5. Click Download files from Windows Update, then if prompted, click Restart now.

This may take a few minutes to download and apply.

Our client PCs are Windows 10, but the data is held on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine, running the Sage Data Service. As all the clients are turned off at night, I presume the scheduled backup is controlled by the data service. Do I need to check that .NET 3.5 is installed on the server?

    Hi Fred,

Yes, check that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is installed and activated on your Windows Server 2012 R2 machine too.
