Functionality to automatically calculate postage costs based on weights and add a charge to the sales order

As queried by one of my clients to have a basic built in calculator which will automatically assign a postage cost on the sales order based on the total net weight. The user then to have the ability to amend the price should the packaging exceed postage price limits

  • As such, should your client be working with a Sage 200c partner that is also a developer then this is a pretty common customisation. One which is specified to your clients specific needs and business processes

  • This obviously isn't a core (off the shelf) feature of Sage 200c. In part, this is because the definition of 'automatically calculate postage costs' is generally very different from one business to another. For example, are they to use their own table of rates or integrate with a postal service or courier? What happens when they are short of stock and cannot fulfil the full order - does the second (or subsequent despatches) get charged? etc.
