Random small amounts in brought forward balances

SUGGESTED

I have been trying to balance a transaction listing to my TB. In doing so, I have found that a small amount of my P&L nominal accounts have random brought forward balances on them, such as 0.68 and 1.97.

When we ran year end, we didn't have any P&L balances on the Opening TB. Why do we now have brought forward balances on some of them, please?

    Hi Karen,

As a matter of course you may want to run verify data against the nominal ledger if you haven't already since running year end. This should check for any imbalances across the nominal accounts, more info on how to do this below depending on which version of Sage 200 you are using.

    Sage 200 Standard
    Sage 200 Professional

If there are no imbalances i'd maybe check what the figure on these nominals was at year end, it could be that the brought forward is the opposite of the value which was on the account at the time and the movement has been recorded to accumulated profit.

Other than this it is a bit difficult to know without looking at the data, i'd suggest contacting your technical service provider after looking at the above to further investigate.

    Kind regards,

    Paul
