merging two customer sales accounts

SUGGESTED

We seem to have two accounts opened for one customer.  When a search was done, no other account was found because one had an apostrophe in the name.  Is there a way to merge the two and keep the history of both?

    Hi ,

Currently, Accounting does not give the option to remove duplicates or merge customer records once added to the business. You can however make a customer record "inactive" potentially. Below I have a old customer, and on the far right side when in their profile you'll see "Account Status".

When you click "Active" you'll have the below options. By default, all new customer or vendor contacts are Active. This allows you to select them in new transactions and throughout Accounting.

Once a contact is inactive, Accounting removes it from the selection list for new transactions. This prevents new transactions from being created for the contact.

For audit purposes, the contact isn't deleted from existing transactions or reports. If you need to edit an existing transaction, first make the contact Active again. Read on here for additional details.

    Warm Regards,

Thank you, Erzsi, I did notice the inactive area and will probably go that route.  It is helpful to know the history will still be available just by making the account active again.
