if you have the order number go into order entry and bring it up and delete it

I use to go and clear anything that wasn't completed or duplicated there 

I would if I could, but the system does not recognize the quote number to bring it up.

if you click on the drop down arrow see if there are any quotes or uncompleted orders and delete them 

not sure but maybe if that doesn't clear it there might be some data lost or corrupted 

They do not show in the listing. I am guessing it is lost data. I have a few items that this has happened to and they are older items that are now obsolete.

will the items allow you to set all quantities to zero and then save then go back and try to delete

No it won't allow me into anything to adjust or delete.it.

the only other thing that might work is to export the item then change the quantities in excel then import back in 

also check your user settings to make sure you have permission to do changes 

I have the permissions, but it says that it is not found to open anything, so exporting won't work either.

will bv let you do a quote with negative quantities I don't have it here to try right now 

It would but the it still won't delete the quote in the system that is unknown.

so you should be able to zero out the inventory item that way then delete it 

No, it won't allow it as it is still being used in a quote, even though the quote doesn't exist.

The only way then might be to find the quote on an old backup and find out the order number.
Then change the current order number in system setup so the old would be next
and do another quote so it will be over written.
Then change the order number back to the next current one in system setup
You could delete the new quote then.
This may have happened if the customer the quote was for was deleted I think.
