How do I add a company to the Company Selection list?

This is a question that Sage BusinessVision Support Analysts frequently get asked. Some common reasons for needing to do this include adding back a company that was accidentally removed from the list and changing the data path or location. The steps for adding a company are below, along with how to resolve issues with not being able to log in to any company on the list.

Important: If you are using Windows 10, make sure that the version of Sage BusinessVision is at least 2015 7.77.

Add a company to the Company Selection list

  1. Start Sage BusinessVision and login to any company on the Selection List. If the ABC Electronics Components or Your Company Name Here appear on the list, you can log in using BUSINESS for the ID and VISION for the password.
  2. Click File, Company Selection.
  3. Click Amend.
  4. Click Open.
  5. Locate the Bvcon.fil file in the data folder that you want to add.
  6. Click Open.
    - The company name will be displayed.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Close.

Fix issues with not being able to log into any company on the Company Selection list

  1. Close BusinessVision.
  2. On your computer, browse to the C:\BusinessVision folder.
  3. If the folder contains a folder called Data, rename the file to Data1.
  4. Rename Multico.idx file to Multico.idxold.
  5. Rename Multico.ism file to Multico.ismold.
  6. Start BusinessVision.
    - The program will automatically search for data files. Immediately click Abort.
  7. Click Yes to the "Are you sure you wish to abort the directory search for Sage BusinessVision files?" prompt.
  8. Click Open on the No Company List window.
  9. On the Open Company File window, browse to the correct location of the company data. The data is typically on your server. You should see the Bvcon.fil file for the company displayed.
  10. Click Open.
  11. On the Open Control File window, the company name for the data will be displayed. This window should show you the correct company name if you are in the correct folder.
  12. Click Add.

Log in to the company and confirm you have added the correct copy of the data.

Note: Sage BusinessVision requires a mapped drive letter to the data if located on a server. In addition, for Sage BusinessVision to be compatible with Windows 10, 2015 version 7.77 or greater must be installed.
