Won't let me start new year - Sage 2014.3 - Database error - Historical data problem

SUGGESTED

Hello,

I have been using Sage 2014.3 since well, 2014. Have had the odd issue here and there but never did. Tried to start a new fiscal year, was told it can't go forward because of a database error. I did the advanced database verification and was told an error was found but that it couldn't fix it.

I opened the log and found this :

# HISTORICAL DATA PROBLEM: The historical set in the datadict table does not have the same number of historical years - tGMscH tJEAH tJEH tJEPH tJEPHH tJETH
# HISTORICAL DATA PROBLEM: This historical table exists, but is missing an entry in the simplygrouppriv table - tgmsch01 - GLEdit

Unable to convert MySQL date/time value to System.DateTime

I will preface by saying that my datafiles are located on a Dropbox, which after doing some reading on this forum, is not the best idea. I have been doing that since 2014 and have never had an issue until now. That being said, I will not do this going forward, but still need to figure out how to repair my data file.

Anything I can do? I have tried opening a few older backups, to no avail. Not sure how far back I would have to go - can't imagine having to redo the whole year...

Thank you!

Hi Jeff, thanks for reaching out.

Please review KB 10234 on Error: "An error has occurred while moving current year to last year. As a result, the new fiscal year could not start. Please restore from backup or run Advance Database Check."

STEP 1 advises to go to "Setup, Settings, Company, then Information"
to look  for duplicate years listed. With a copy of your database (make a backup) to test on, you can try STEP 2's suggestion of "Select Maintenance, Clear Data, then Clear Financial History" making sure to remove all historical fiscal years in chronological order. Typically, you don't need more than the last 2 years of recent data. For anything older, you can always load a backup (to provide an auditor etc)..

    Hope this helps!
