How to update a year end report with an accountant's adjusted backup file

I am using Sage 50 pro 2017 edition. I sent the 2018 year end backup file to our accountant. He adjusted entries, etc. and gave me an adjusted year end report as "Backup.SDB" file. I asked him to change the file to".TXT" file, but he said he couldn't do that. So, I have to use the accountant's Backup.SDB file to update our year end report in my computer.

1. The Sage Info says we need .TXT file to update our file, but is it possible to use (import?) accountant's Backup.SDB file to update our data?

2. I noticed that the SAGE 50 opening page has a  "create a new company" option. Is it possible to create a new company using the accountant's Backup.SDB file if we cannot use accountant's SDB file to update the data of existing company?

    Hi Aki

You need to find out what file extension of the "Backup.SDB" is, you can right click on "Backup.SDB" file and right click then left click on Properties and check what is the "Type of File".  As windows is default to hidden known file extension.   I suspect your accountant just send you a backup cabinet file (which is a copy of your data with year end adjustments)

If "Backup.SDB" is a cabinet type file, you just need go to use "restore" feature, restore the backup.

    hope this helps
