Sage 50 can't locate the form file in the Printer Form Settings

I've recently re-installed Sage 50 onto a new computer and obviously it requires some tweaking.  I use pre-printed 3 part cheques - cheque at top and 2 stubs below. Prior to the reinstall I used to use "invpmtchq.sfm" - this file is not in Sage Accountants Edition 2017.  No matter what I choose for "Description" and "Form" it comes up with an error message saying "Sage 50 can't located the form file in the Printer Form Settings".

Are you able to locate the file on your old computer and transfer it to the new one?

I would put it in the same folder as the company data (the <company>.SAI file), to make it easier to locate.

I did that - same message. I tried 2 ways - putting just the form in the 2017 form file that didn't work - so I copied the old directory into C - same error message - still can't find it. I then tried just linking with any cheque "form" in the 2017 forms file - same message.

Once you have located your form file on the new computer go to Setup/Settings/Reports and Forms/Cheques and pick your bank account. on the next window there are two places to enter the full path to find your customized cheque form. Be sure that your customized cheque form file is not a part of the forms folder within Sage 50 as it is over-written whenever an update of the program happens.

Thank you Clyde but that doesn't work. Even if I change the path to a current form in the 2017 version - it comes up with the same error message - can't find the form. The responses I'm receiving are consistent, but it is not about changing the path - or finding the file - I've done that. I'm thinking this might require tech support as it appears, although everyone is trying to be very helpful for which I'm very grateful - I've used Sage for 20+ years - it's not the basics that need fixing. I know how to find the file - move the file - change the path - copy the old files into the new computer, etc. But it appears none of the basic solutions work - I was wondering maybe if it had something to do with security within the program? I'll call tech support once they reopen after the long weekend - thank you everyone for trying!! I truly appreciate.

    Thanks,

My guess is that you are not reading the screen properly. Are you only changing the settings for the Payment Cheques to one that exists or are you changing the settings for the Payroll Form settings to one that exists as well? Both are on the same screen and labelled. If you don't use the Payroll module just pick the default form instead of User-Defined.

I spoke with Sage tech support and that's exactly what it was - thank you Richard! I was only changing one of the "cheque" forms - and because I do not use payroll for this particular company - I was not changing the payroll form as well. Thank you!! This has been resolved. I do appreciate all the assistance!! What a wonderful medium for getting assistance.. thank you again.

Thank you this solution worked for me too.  I had to change all the cheque types or the error kept popping up.
