First thing to do is verify your Payroll Subscription. From within Sage 50 go to Help / About Sage 50 (Bottom selection) / Support Info Near the top left on this screen there is all the licensing information and at the bottom of this information is Payroll - Active. If this shows inactive you will have to contact Sage Sales or Sage Support / Non-technical Support to check the status of your subscription. Be sure to have the information about your last payment to assist in the verification process.

Hi Lois:

Your payroll subscription with Sage only handles what you have been subscribed to. If I remember correctly there are 5 tier levels. The first tier level is for up to 10 employees, the 2nd tier is for 11 to 15 employees and so on. If you have 12 employees then you must subscribe to the 2nd tier. However, if you have some terminated employees and you want to stay in the 1st tier level then the 2 employees who are terminated must be set to inactive.

Hi Fkuzzy, thanks for reaching out. Please see KB 40867 and KB 47261 with some steps to try. If the service plan and codes for your Sage 50 CA check out, then your list of active employees can be accessed by going to the Reports > List menu option. You may also want to check that the employee records required are "active", see KB 47464.
