It depends on exactly what you mean by "work with".

Simply/Sage 50 prior to Sage 50 2014.2 would run any Crystal Report created with Crystal Reports Designer versions 7, 8 or 8.5 directly from the program.  Since 2014.3, the viewer was removed from the program so templates cannot be viewed directly from Sage 50.

However, using the Crystal Reports Designer program and pulling data from Sage 50 is possible with all versions from 8.5 (I just tested it to make sure) to present.  I still use CR 2011 for most of my work but 2013 will work as well.  The only real difference between the two at this level is the year in the name.  Just use the appropriate ODBC driver, username and password to connect.  If necessary for your scenario, you can create your own ODBC drivers but you have to keep them updated yourself.

If you don't wish to buy the Crystal Reports designer for each user who may need to run reports, you can contact me off forum to discuss my BizMan Reports 2.0 viewer program that will allow you to use templates created with the Crystal designer and run them on any Sage 50 database you have.

Using the same ODBC drivers, you can also connect from Excel or Access or other ODBC-compliant reporting program if you wish to use those programs to report.

Thanks Richard for the information but can you confirm if you can pull out data from a version 2019 of Sage 50 Canada/Simply? We are using 2008 version of Crystal reports, and we still can't figure out how to populate the our cystal reports from our Sage 50 Canada 2019. Unlike our Sage 50 US (Peachtree) 2019, we were able to open that CrystalReports.udl file and it works. For Sage 50 Canada/Simply 2019, we cannot seem to find it. 

While I believe the same programmers work on the US and Canadian versions now, Peachtree and Simply were originally developed by completely different companies.  Therefore their approach to using Crystal was different.

I discussed above about using the ODBC drivers to access the data.  Which one's did you try?  One method is to open your company file in Sage 50, then use the Sage 50: Last Opened. ODBC driver in Crystal.

HI Richard, is there any available guides online to actually do this? It seems that most of the available resources for this is only for the US editon but it seems for the CA edition, there's none.

It depends on what you mean by "guide".  I wrote a manual that was distributed through a publisher about 15 years ago.  The publisher was not very good and there were not a huge number of sales so it is not available now and Sage 50 has changed a bit since then.

If you are looking for help with the data tables, there is a datadict.pdf file in your Manuals folder of the program's installation folder.

If you are looking for help on Crystal in general there are a lot of resources available on the internet, including the SAP website.  In general, you will find answers to specific tasks more easily found.  For example, you will not find anywhere the answer to "how do I get customer sales grouped by customer within a date range and totaled?".  But you can get help on "How do I group records by customer?" and "how do I select data by date range?"  eg. more specific tasks.
