Current Equity when using Departments

I can't seem to unlink the current equity account and it lumps all the departments into one account (a linked account) -- can this be changed?  not sure what this is for?

I have 2 departments: Operating, and Reserves

In the balance sheet, the Current Equity Account lumps both of the current equity for both departments (Operating, and Reserves) together -- is there a way to separate these?

The equity account for Current Earnings is a fixed account within Sage 50 and as you have found out it cannot be changed, split or renumbered. This is necessary to be sure the total from the Income Statement is properly transferred to the Balance Sheet. Departments cannot be used for this account. Yes, it is manual but if you run the Department reports and get the individual department retained earnings then an entry could be made to reflect this in the Balance Sheet Equity Section. The entry would be to an Expense account for the full net Current Earnings with a Balancing entry to two new accounts added to the Equity Section which would then show the split you are looking for. The Income Statement would show a zero dollar balance after the entry is made. This is just my suggestion but you should discuss it with your Sage experienced accountant.
