Migrating from QBO (Quick Books Online) to SAGE 50C Premium

SUGGESTED

Hello, I'm starting with SAGE 50C Premium but I'm stuck at how to export existing data from QBO to Sage 50.

I use the online version and can only create lists in Excel not IIF files. So importing into Sage 50 apparently can only take IIF for Quickbook. Otherwise, is there a generic way to import Client, Product, etc. lists into SAGE?

Are there tools? When I search in google, all I guess is the other way around, such as migrate from SAGE to QBO... it appears that Intuit has better service for customer that want to switch to them... unfortunately I can't find anything from SAGE side... :(((

Please let me know if you have already done it, I'm a SME and so many things to do everyday, just cannot afford to lose time in finding how to migrate from QBO to SAGE... Disappointed

You can request Sage do it for you. Takes about a week. I wanted to start everything at the beginning of 3rd QTR. So I did it myself as I was out of time to wait for them to do it.

It wasn't the easiest process, but I think the issue is more with QB as you must request the data be sent to you. Then wait for that to happen... Then download it. Seems kinda like a sneaky way to keep you from switching.

If you want to do it yourself: Go to the gear icon on the top right of your QB screen. Select export and answer the questions. (Of course they want to know why you want YOUR data!)

It took about a day to get it. It will show up on your dashboard when it's ready to download.

You will need a desktop version of QB to import the data. I used an older version, QB Pro 2016, as it must be older than your version of Sage. I read that somewhere as I was pulling my hair out. I'm not sure if a demo version would work for this. You can probably borrow it from somebody or download it like I did. (Don't tell anybody!)

After importing to QB you will now have a .qbw file for your company stored locally. You will use that file to import to Sage.

    Thank you very much!

I tried to contact SAGE on chat and they cannot do anything, bounced me back to QBO... I'm writing Intuit an email to see if they can help me generate IFF file.

If I try to do it myself, since I'm using the online version it only generates excel file and it's not even complete... lacking a lot of information for example for the customers list.

It really isn't easy. LOL. So, I understand the steps are:

1 request IFF files from Intuit

    2 import to SAGE.

Hopefully I can get the IFF files easily and no problem in importing them to SAGE. Migration is always a pain in the @$$. LOL

    Thanks again!

I forgot to mention, you have to do this download with IE.

Anyway, the download is a QBXML file, their instructions:

      • Download and save your QuickBooks Online company data (it's saved as a QBXML file)
      • Convert your file to a new QuickBooks for Windows company file. You'll be asked to save and name your new QuickBooks for Windows company file as well. This should take about 20 minutes (sometimes longer)

The file, when you are done with it, should be something that Sage can import.

It worked and I'm okay with the results. Now I have to get payroll DD setup and figure out the bank feeds.

    Time for a cocktail.
