Have tried checking settings in reports & forms, Invoice, and un-checked the Company Logo setting/tick box. But it still prints a black square in the logo space. What to do next? Tx, Neil.

Neil:
Can you tell us what specific invoice form you are using, also is your windows 7 PC 32 or 64 bit?
I tested my Sage 50 2017.1 system running Windows 10 64 bit and it had no black square on the print out when I removed my company logo, but I am using a custom Invoice template!
Also are you using 2017.0 or 2017.1.
Is the invoice you are printing a "PAID" invoice, if so does the "PAID" stamp appear on the print preview and on the actual print out?
Does the black square appear on all invoice when printed (new and old)?
Neil:
Is the black square exactly where the Paid stamp shows in the print preview, if so then it is the area to focus on, could be a print driver issue related to the PAID stamp itself, I am not sure if there is an option to turn on or off the paid stamp on the print out, I will look when I have time, or you can investigate this yourself.
Sounds like what's happening is that the 'Paid Stamp' (presumably a transparent graphic? used as a watermark) is being printed as a very non-transparent black rectangle.
There may be settings and options for that printer (grayscale, 'print as black & white', print as bitmap, etc) that send different types data (raw, partially or fully processed) to the printer and can affect the output.
(Or just turn the 'paid stamp' off.)
Mike-NS said:It has to be a driver issue as the new computer will print to the network printer fine. I assume it is a driver issue that HP won't fix due to the age of the printer (2012 driver).
My experience has been the opposite, usually the older equipment and drivers have fewer 'fancy features' and their basic function has been more thoroughly tested, is better understood, and the thing is more reliable.

If it works for cheques, you could make it a cheque-only printer. Less likelihood of anyone printing cheques on white paper or reports on cheques.
Hi everyone,
It's not Sage's fault nor Microsoft's but has to do with the printer software in how it was installed. Uninstall printer software and reinstall using custom and CHOOSE Post Script printer driver. It worked for me! Windows 10 64bit 20H2 and Brother Laserjet.
I had the same problem. I had to do an update for my printer then everything was good.
