You can go two ways with your cheque formats.  The Pre-printed versions do not allow you to modify the template at all except to move the whole page up (negative top margin like -0.25), down (positive top margin like 0.25), left (negative left margin like -0.25) or right (positive left margin like 0.25).  You cannot remove the cheque number printed from Sage 50.  You cannot preview the cheque prior to printing.

You can go with the Custom Forms also.  This format will allow you to modify the templates using the internal forms designer.  You will likely have to modify the template to remove the Company's name and address on the cheque and probably the stubs as well as they are likely already printed on the blank cheques.  You can also remove (or even just move) the cheque number printed from Sage 50.  You can preview the cheques prior to printing.

However, regarding the printed cheque number, please be aware that this is part of the Audit Trail of the program.  It is the single number identifier that proves which cheque number in Sage 50 is printed on which piece of paper.  You can print Sage 50 cheque number 4345 on cheque Serial number 5456.  The printed cheque number relates back to your bank rec.  The serial number preprinted on the cheque shows on the statement.  The image on the statement shows both.

Sage is not allowing me to save new format- Please advise

I have saved this on drive , and it seems to be working- Is this correct way to do ?

Windows doesn't like users to save their own files to the Program Files area of the computer.  Microsoft is getting stricter that a program file should be a file installed by a program, not one modified by a user.

I usually set up a Sage50Forms folder in the same location as the *.sai file and save all the customised forms there.  If multiple users need to use the same files, then they can all go to the same location to find them.  Give them names that make sense for what they are eg. ABC Company Ltd. would have an ABCInvoice.sfm and ABCAPCheque.sfm, etc.  Or some naming like that.
