Error message while installing Sage50 2017 regarding Microsoft Visual C++

I am installing Sage50 2017 as I am upgrading our system from version 2013. I have installed version 2015 and that install went smoothly.

As I began the 2017 installation, I got the following error message, "The installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package (x86) appears tohave failed. Do you want to continue the installation?"

I have halted the install of 2017 until I find out what the issue is. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Kristine

    Hi,

You'd have to ask Sage software.

Possibly there is a newer version of that Microsoft Visual Studio 'redistributable' already installed, and the Sage software will work properly

Possibly it wasn't installed, and the install attempt partially failed, and the Sage software won't work properly, or it might.

Generally, if a .NET component isn't the correct one you'll get an error message at runtime that it isn't there. Modern software doesn't usually grab the wrong component / wrong version of the component, and then crash.

Hi Randy, thanks for the reply. I also talked to a guy in the office (electrical engineer/programmer) and he suggested I go ahead and do the install anyway as chances are it'll be fine... so I'm going to give that a whirl and see what happens. If at that point things are still buggered, I will contact Sage.

    Thanks again!

    Ha ha! Indeed! LOL

Well, FYI, I did go ahead and install 2017 and I have now also converted/upgraded our files and everything seems to be honky dory so far. Phew!!
