I was just going to come here to post this.  I totally agree. We have paid $3,000/yr for 10 years for this program, but the features are still pretty basic like the original Peach Tree we paid around $500 once. We had a program called AccPac we paid $12,000 for and it had a very easy inventory entry feature. It would be very easy to implement, and it would save hours of annual inventory time.  (I didn't realize this was the Canada version, I am US, but the suggestion still applies to all versions)
