SAGE 50 reporting tool required a.s.a.p.

New to SAGE  50 Canadian,  and really frustrated with the limited reporting.  what is the best reporting tool to use?  One that i can access any field I need?  a BI tool?    I understand that SAGE retired that product?     Currently we're doing everything manually in excel, which is frustrating because the data I need to report on is IN the system.  Slight smile

  • You should be able to customize your reports somewhat. On the Main page, select 'Reports' then select 'Report Centre'. This gives you a variety of reports to select from. Some reports will show a 'Modify this report' option where you can change the Report Options, Report Columns, Print Settings, Font Settings.

Some reports can be opened in Excel where you can do a 'Data Sort' where you can further refine the layout you want to show.

In Vendors, Customers, Payroll, (and General Account) you also have the option of using the 'Additional Info' tab to enter some info you may want to sort by when creating your reports. You are able to create your own report and name it as a template.

    Does this help you any?

I have found the 'modify' report and found that the columns I want are not available.  Dumping to excel is great!!  but I need other columns.   example.   when I run the GL transaction report - I do not get the description that I entered in the transaction.  ie.  in expense accounts - only shows vendor name and invoice number.    i know I can drill down...  but folks that I send the report to don't have that option.

likewise on revenue accounts - only customer and invoice #

That is true - you will not be able to see the comments you enter without drilling down into the invoice itself.

Lynn: When Sage retired the BI Reporting tool the suggestion was made to use the reporting tool created by one of the Sage Partners. Logicim ( https://www.logicimtech.com/ ) has a tool XLGL which is created using the excel platform and it can produce a report using any and all data stored within Sage 50 CDN. Pierre can also create custom reports for you or you can use the standard reports built into this Excel addon. If you are real good with Excel you can create all your own reports once you learn where the data is stored in Sage 50 CDN. Hope this helps
