I want to download the database into excel so that I can do some custom reports over several years. It would be nice to see all the transactions in an account spanning several years without having to download a years worth at a time.
This cannot be done from within Sage. Not sure if it can be done by directly accessing database files with some other program.
Yes I am not even sure where to locate the databases in Sage
You could use BI aka Sage Intelligence Reporting and create a custom report
We do not have Sage Intelligence Reporting. How much does it cost?
Phone Sage customer service, I think its $150 and then there a yearly subscription amount. If that does work out let me know there are some other possibilities
I would like to explore other possibilities since we are in the midst of closing down our business and so purchasing extra functionality at this point may not make sense.
contact me at [email protected] and can discuss further
I do dumps, analysis and report compilation all the time and Simply Accounting is too simple for what you're asking … per se.
It locks every year so I do a sloppy workaround - I set up a report, save it as a template for all users then run once year, copying and pasting into a template made to clean it up for compilation and sorting into one page.
Keep in mind that if you ever had that old bug where the database got overloaded, Simply probably went and performed a maintenance, literally deleting chunks and batches - this could affect your reports depending on what you're doing but to get around that, merely restore a backup of a previous year to a separate company and keep going.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I did find something that works for me.
