Sage 2022.1 Update - Have you installed yet?

SOLVED

This will be a little rant followed by genuine questions.  My rant is the difficulty in assessing if the 2022 version is available.  I've bookmarked the following page is my "check for Sage updates" go to:

https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/microsites/msbrowse.do?UMBrowseSelection=SG_SAGE50_CANADIANEDITION_1

This page says the latest update is only 2021.3

I then go to these forums, and see an announcement from a month ago that 2022.1 will be released on Dec. 28, "contingent on the reporting of the Canadian federal payroll tax updates".  No other posts or announcements after that saying it was released.  I found one user post that suggested CRA is being slow with those updates, so now I'm thinking "I guess that contingency hasn't been met and we are waiting on the CRA".

But I did some more random link following, and what do you know, I stumble on this page which has a 2022.1 download:

https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=29014&sliceId=1&isLoadPublishedVer=&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_Article&cmd=displayKC&ViewedDocsListHelper=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelperImpl&openedFromSearchResults=true

So I have a little complaint for Sage support:  Why wasn't the first page I visited up to date?  And why wasn't there a followup announcement in the forum to the one that was made a month ago?  Basically, 2 out of 3 Sage sites that should have told me 2022.1 was ready didn't - that wastes my time and is confusing.

Now for my questions about the install itself:

1. Can any of you vouch for the installation - any problems or extra steps from normal?  Past experience has taught me it's wise not to be the first one to jump in.

2. This is another full install like they do at the beginning of every year, correct?

3. We are currently on 2021.2, should I first update to 2021.3 or can I skip that and just go directly to 2022.1?  Do I back up the 2021.2 database and update it directly to 2022.1?

4. Is there a server side update to this?

5. Will either the client or server need a reboot?

Your assistance is much appreciated.

If you are on a subscription, then why isn't your program telling you the update was downloaded in Oct/21?

Under Help, About Sage 50...., Support Info, Modify Product Update Settings, you will find the options for automatic downloading of updates and automatic install of updates.  I DO NOT automatically install but I have the automatic download turned on for all my computers and clients.

It sounds like your's is turned off.

Manually you can find the downloads on your computer here

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download

Why wasn't the first page I visited up to date?

If I am not mistaken, this Latest Update link is correct.  It was the latest released.  Right beside it says 2022 Full Product.  You could click on it.

    1) Install works fine.  I haven't had a problem since October's first release of 2022.0.

    2) The 2022.1 full product download is the full 2022.0 and the payroll table updates for Jan 2022.

    3) No, there is no need.  2021.3 is the January payroll tax tables for the 2021 version.

    4) Yes, 2022 needs to be installed on the server.

    5) No idea, it depends on the computer.  I don't track this stuff, I just reboot when requested but I think I had one computer need it.  I don't think I have had a server require it yet and have not updated my own yet either.

You should be aware that there is a bug in the T5018 printing and a new update will be coming out in early Feb to fix it.  If you don't print T5018's then it's not an issue for you.

Thanks Richard, that was the info I was looking for.

I'm the "IT guy" here, I don't log into Sage every day so I don't see announcements by the program.  Our bookkeeper tells me when she needs an update and then I look up "latest updates" on the Sage site I bookmarked.  I think you were looking at my second link, the first one literally says "Latest Product: Sage 2021" and "Latest Update: 2021.3 Product Update".

In retrospect it looks like a Google search would have got me there quicker, but I prefer going to bookmarked sites that I have previously verified.

If you check out the settings on the Help menu, you will likely find then that she is telling you there is an update to install because it has been downloaded and is telling her it is there.  You don't need to go to the website and download it again.  That info may get you there quicker next time now that you know where it is automatically downloaded.

You can also copy it to the server and use it to install the server portion.

Or you can go to the server and open the Connection Manager and click Update the Connection Manager on a Server link but I've never done that because it is always available on the workstation.

Regarding your linked pages, see the image below.  Red arrow shows the page I am on is your first link.  Yellow highlight is what you are looking at.  I'm not saying that the Latest Update label isn't confusing but have a look around.

Oh shoot!  You are right about the website - somehow my brain focused only on the Update version #

My apologies to the Sage support staff!!

    Hi JoeSchwarz,

Looks like you got some great answers here. Forwarded your comments onto the support team who've now updated the Sage 50 CA KB Microsite to list the 2022.1 update download.

Note that the full version download of 2022 (KB 112681) has been updated to include the January 2022 tax tables. Otherwise, if you're on a 2022.0 version, you can use KB 113931 for the 2022.1 update (ONLY*) download.

Also, be sure to subscribe to the latest Announcements, News & Alerts for Sage 50 CA. This News and Alert announcement shared that the 2022.1 Product Update will start releasing to customers on or after December 28th.
