Caution when upgrading Computer to Win 10 - Rip off is alive and well in this Company.

We upgraded our computers to Win 10 and reinstalled Sage 50 Canada Pro 2019 so that we could work on this year's books. We have been customers for over 37 years.

Our backup file would not open and there was no information available that there was a problem with the product when reinstalling when upgrading your computer  to win 10 from Win 7.

We tried all the suggestions posted on the Company's website to no avail. When we called they said we did not have an active support contract and hence would not be able to talk to support unless we purchased it and you could only get it by purchasing the new 2020 program as well.

$527 later and a very long wait for telephone response only to be told Tech 1 personnel were not enough but we needed Tech 2 which meant another very long wait.

The answer (for $527) was install Sage Canada Pro 2015( which is available readily) and restore the file and then backup with the new format and it would work. Which it did and we have Sage 50 Pro Canada 2020 which we did not need.

Makes one wonder how many people got sucked into this scenario?

  • Hi ,

Very sorry to hear this! I don't see a previous post from you about this. We do try to make this information readily available. It can be found on our Sage Knowledgebase resource:

Converting from old Sage 50 data to latest version

Most recently, we made reference to How to upgrade Sage 50 CA to the lastest version in this blog post. and thoroughly reference the need to use the 2015.3 download.

Version 2015.3 (for converting files older than 2014*)

If you're still within 30 days of your purchase of the upgraded software, you can still request a refund. I suggest calling the Sage 50 CA sales team at 1-888-261-9610 directly.

    Warm Regards,
