License upgrade Sage 50 Premium Accounting

SUGGESTED

Hello,

we are using a 2 User license of Sage 50 Premium Canadian Edition. We have received a new license from Sage with the notice to install each client with the new license and the 2017.1 version. The same with the Connection Manager on our server. The new license is increasing the amount of users to 4.

The limit of 2 users is still the same (2). Each client is newly installed with the new license details and the server too. The server was updated first.

Is there anyone who knows this license behaviour or do i have to contact Sage again?

Thanks and regards

Are you saying you still can only access the file with two users maximum simultaneously?

What error message did you get when you tried to log in with the four usernames simultaneously? Which computer log in order did you get the message?

When you select Help, About Sage 50, Support Info, what serial number do you see? Don't give us the whole number but just near the beginning you should see a U, what is the number before that? Is it 2U or 4U? The number of users licensed is there as well. Does it same the same thing on all computers?

    Hello Richard,

the first 2 users could logon without problems. The 3rd get this message

Sage 50 has detected that you have used the key code xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx too many times. You will need to upgrade this copy of Sage 50 to use a key code with more users.

The serial numbers are all the same on each sage-equipped client. It is xxxP2U on all clients.
If i understand you correctly we have got a wrong license key from Sage. I have checked the email from them - there is a Activation Key with P2U in it.

In that case your instructions were incorrect.  You said

and with the information to install the new license on each client.  However, it is possible they said to install the new license on the NEW clients.

If your old and new serial numbers both say 2U then you have two, two-user licenses for a total of 4.  On two of the computers, see if you can go to the Help Menu and select Upgrade and put in the Old serial number and Key Code.  If not, you will have to fully uninstall two of them and reinstall with the old licences.

    Hi Richard,

thanks for the tipp. But the Sage Database files are located on the server and the connection manager has to be licensed too. With which license details should the connection manager be equipped?

According to the EULA the server only needs to be licensed if you have done a full install of the software and is used for data entry. Then you can only install the software on three other computers.

If you did a Server install on the server, there is no license required.

With the assumption you are never doing data entry on the server, the answer to your question is none.

We have another person who wants to have Sage 50 on  his computer, can we just install or call them to get another licence. Currently, we only have two.

    Hi officeclerk1972:

If you purchased a 2 user version of Sage 50 Premium only 2 individuals can access the data at the same time. If 3 or 4 people use the software you can either upgrade your software to a 4 user product or install Sage 50 on the other users computers but you are limited to only 2 users at the same time. Other individuals would have to wait until the other users logged out of Sage 50 to have access. With an upgraded 4 user product you can have up to 4 users accessing the data at the same time on 4 different computers.

    Hope this answers your question!
