Here's a resource as well on how to convert data files from old versions of Sage 50 CA. Though the 2014 version would not be optimized to run on Windows 10, it's worth trying. Should help be needed, please let us know. Happy to forward your request onto the team.

Hi George: I am impressed! your father-in-law must be someone very special still doing his own work on a computer at that age.

Try to maintain the use of 2014. If you have to purchase a newer version you would be looking at a subscription service. If you are getting a new computer with Windows 10, Sage 50 2014 should work as I have known others who were using 2014 on Windows 10. 

Thanks Alwyn ..... and he is still driving !     I will try to run Sage 50 2014 on the new PC.  I think the install disk for 2014 version is lost in a move (he has the sales receipt though)  so if anyone has some tips on how to move the program to a new PC  without the disk I would be grateful.

You do have to have the Key Code. Serial Number, Client ID in order to install. This should all be available from the Help menu, About Sage 50.

Before you shut down the old computer, please check the c:\Sage folder to see if the installation program is there.

If the original 2014.0 was updated with a subsequent 2014 release, check the path

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download

and look for the highest level file names like SA_20142CPUP1.exe where the number after 2014 is the release 2014.1, 2014.2, 2014.3, 2014.4.  This example file is 2014.2.

I found the Sage50 installation folder on the old computer.    I copied this and installed it using my father-in-law's license information on a Windows 10 machine and I was able to view all his  company details and transactions.
