Editing Entries, Invoices, Bills etc.

I don't suppose anyone knows if there are any plans for Sage to allow more flexibility in editing entries (instead of creating a reversing entry), similar to what QB allows?

I would hope not. If an entry has to be adjusted it is always best for the purposes of the audit trail to show the reversing entry and then the corrected entry. It is all done behind the scenes so this should not be a concern.

    Hi Alwyn:

    Thanks for your answer.

I have some clients who are just getting their "act" together and come in with messy situations. I find it improves my work flow to be able to make an entry with a best guess, between meetings with the client (like Reconciling Credit Cards and having no receipts with which to track Tax, then the receipt shows up).  Then if things need to be adjusted it doesn't make such a mess of the books.

Similarly with a new Shopify business. I found I made numerous changes to how I was doing the monthly Summary Sales Invoice as I figured out the process. (Tax by Province, no tax charged on Shipping etc.) I would not be able to do this in Sage.

These are just a couple of examples of where I use this feature of QB.  I feel concerned about committing to Sage with the lack of flexibility, but much prefer Sage's local version (speed of data entry), interface (lack of huge gui) and features (comes with Inventory)

I completely understand where you are coming from with functioning businesses but find with companies in startup mode it is really really helpful to be able to make adjustments until you are happy with how the picture is setting up. (haven't filed any taxes or reported to any govt's yet)

(I have to admit I have become lazy, if I am making a JE and can't remember which is the Debit/Credit side, I can just put in the entry and then go check the result to see if I got it in the way I want it) :-)

Just wanted to see if there was any discussion at Sage to allow this feature.  I started off using Bedford back in the early 80's, used Simply for a number of years and then spent 10 - 15 years in the QB world.  So coming back to check out Sage now that I do client work.  Just looking to improve speed and find the local versions much better for that.

    All the best
