How to remove an account the is our of order?

SUGGESTED

I have removed/reversed the transactions in the account.  But I still can't delete it.  The number of the account fall directly inbetween another 2 accounts that are in use.  so I can't create a new header account to delete this one.  It is stuck our in no mans land.  And I cant change the acct number to make it fall "in line"  Because it is out of order I cannot view any of my income or balance statements.  there must be a way to remove this errant account.  Any ideas?

    Hi Gannet Construction,

Thanks for reaching out. Did you ever find an answer to your question? Some common reasons for being unable to remove an account include:

    • The account has been used in a transaction (even if it has been reversed) in the current or the prior fiscal year.
    • You have not finished entering your company's historical information.
    • The account does not have a zero balance.
    • This account is being used as a linked account.
    • Maybe Sage 50 is open as multi-user mode.

Please note that if there are removed / reversed transactions in the account, they will remain on the audit trail for 2 years.

If no entries exist within two years and the balance is 0, unlink the account and delete it

    1. Follow Article: How to unlink a linked account
    2. Verify that you can now delete the account

    Hope this helps!

    Warm Regards,
