Export Data for one year

SUGGESTED

Hi all,

We have data from an old company file that did not recover after a data file repair.  When we rolled from 2019 to 2020, the data was fine; the data from 2020 to 2021, the 2019 data disappeared.  The 2020-2021 file was repaired but the data is still missing.  Is there a way to export the data from the old file for just 2019 and import it to 2021 files?

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

There is no good way to do this in Sage.  Don't know if there is a way to do it using the SDK.

It probably makes more sense to just make sure your opening balances work, and perhaps keep the 2019 database around labelled 'old - for lookup only'.

The problems with trying to import 2019 entries using the tools Sage provides are:

    1. Sage can only accept entries for 2 fiscal years.  Assuming your fiscal year is a calendar year, if you are working in 2021, you can no longer make journal entries into 2019 - whether you are keying them or importing them.

    2. While Sage can export all types of journal entries, it can only import general journal entries.  This means that all of your payroll / payables / receivables / inventory quantity entries from 2019 would be imported as general journal entries, which will cause massive data integrity problems if you are using any of these modules.
