SOLVED

Sage 50 premium account 2021.1

windows factory reset and new install sage 50 premium Canadian 2021.1

the fonts in the small window are super small. changed windows resolution and size of text, both methods don't make those fonts more clear.

they seem blur...

They were bigger size more clear last time i used it on this computer. Now the font in sittings is small and blur. very hard to see.

    Hi Joe,

I have the exact same issue as you. I had to reinstall Windows in January because it crashed, and since then, some Sage 50 windows are so small they are very hard to read. I've tried a lot of things, nothing works.

I also tried you fix and it didn't work. Maybe I'm missing a step?

    1. I have exported the 3 folders you have listed onto my desktop.
    2. I selected all three and clicked Merge.
    3. I said Yes to all the modifications Windows said it wanted to do to my computer
    4. I rebooted the computer

When I opened Sage 50, nothing had changed. What am I missing?

Thanks for helping me. I'm even thinking of switching Accounting App if Sage doesn't want to play nice with Windows and there is NO help at all from the company. They don't even answer my emails.

I do not know what's missing.

There is a couple of things you can try.

    1. install sage 50 on your desktop. if sage 50 works well that means the font file is good. if sage 50 still have the same issue. means font might still miss. you might need a font file from somewhere else.

    2. There are some other settings you can try:

you can read the following MS post "apps fonts are too SMALL in windows 10"

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/apps-fonts-are-too-small-in-windows-10/0628844f-6df4-4b98-801d-fc0404c8148b

    Thank you for responding, Joe.

The MS post doesn't help, because it changes the fonts in all apps and I only have the issue with Sage 50. I don't have another computer to install Sage on to see what it would do, all other computers in the house are Mac.

When you say "install on my desktop" do you mean change the file location of Sage 50 from my program files to my computer desktop? How can that affect font size?

This is very frustrating as it was working fine until the reinstallation of Windows in January. Now, it has become very difficult to use Sage.

I reread your post and it seems that you have taken your .reg files from another computer? That might be the difference. I've taken them from my own, so I'm guessing that merging them does not change a thing.

yep, from another computer, Your friend's computer, work computer, neighbour's computer.

I think something is missing in your current computer cause the problem. copy the font from another computer hope will fill the gap.

I hope I answered your question. Good luck.

Hi Joe. I spent another 2 hours on this issue this morning. Problem not solved.

    1. I got the files from a friend
    2. Copied the file + my original reg filed in a folder on my desktop
    3. Merged each file with the original reg file
    4. Answered yes to the zillion Windows questions about changing reg keys
    5. Rebooted

Nothing changed. So I figured I could force a 150% scaling on my monitor when I use Sage and then revert to automatic scaling when I am done. But it really bothers me, especially since it was working fine until January 2021.

I have not much to add. there are many things that can cause the issue. I just listed one of the possibilities.  from your post, there are two things I noticed you might want to check is:

    1. you need to verify the file first.
    2. is your friend's computer can run sage without the same issue? if not, then means the files you copied are not right.
    3. Do you have another computer? install sage on another computer, run sage to see if the same problem comes up. if no display issue, then copy the file from that machine.
    4. if this won't work, you might want some professional to help.
    1. Did you do a sage upgrade in Jan 2021?
    2. In the past I had some setting error code issues can not resolve. called sage they suspect data issue ask for $$ to repair the data. I factory reset the computer and the problem resolved. I think it has something to do with when I didn't remove the old sage file.
    3. if the issue came up after the sage updated, you might ask a professional to help.
    4. The cheaper way is to backup important files, and do a windows system factory reset

You can always back up the important files and do a windows factory reset.  install sage first. then you are to square 1.

Above just my guesses. hope it would help.

    Good luck.
