Inventory

Hi there,

We started using an app called Jane and instead of entering the inventory items twice in Sage and Jane, we decided to simplify and keep a detailed account of our inventory in the Jane app only. We entered the expenses and sales in the Sage inventory with an amount only and not specified to each product. The problem was at year end, I made the dollar amount adjustments in Sage but when I went back to check the balance sheet, the inventory amount was wrong. My question is, is there an easy way to track inventory through Sage using a dollar amount, instead of specific products? If yes, how do I do it? Thank you so much. Slight smile

Inventory in Sage 50 is based on the cost per unit and the sales per unit for each item or service.

If you do not want to use the inventory module then you would record all purchases in an expense account. At year end take an inventory count and manually calculate the value. Adjust the inventory asset account to agree with the value of the inventory count and enter the difference in the inventory expense account. Another thing to consider would be to have the Jane program feed the inventory module within Sage 50 on a regular and direct basis. IntegraPortation is a program of Integratech in Montreal which may be able to integrate the programs and remove the manual process. https://www.integratech.ca/   This is a Sage 50 certified program and Sylvain is vey helpful.
