How to Delete Account from Chart of Accounts

SOLVED

Hi There,

I made an error when creating the account number for 2 new accounts listed on the YE adjusting entries. I received an error message that the accounts needed a Heading and would not be able to print some reports until the issue was resloved. The 2 accounts were not in logical order, and Sage wouldn't let me modify the number to get them in order, so I created 2 new accounts to correct that problem. Unfortunately I already used the wrong accounts to post the adjusting entry and although I have since deleted that entry, Sage will not let me delete these accounts, or make the inactive.

What can I do? I really want to avoid restoring from my last back up because there was a TON of work done afterward. I can't open any financial reports until I resolve this though, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Because you didn't tell us what the account numbers are and what other accounts are in the same part of the Chart, I can't give you a definitive answer.

However, the rules are all postable accounts (A and G) must be between H and T accounts.  All A accounts must be followed by an S account.

I assume your new accounts are either A or G accounts and are between T and H instead of between H and T.

I can fix things a little easier than typical end users but for you to fix it yourself, you will have to either take the account number from the T above the new accounts and make it a number below (higher than) the new accounts or take the number for the H account below the new accounts and make it smaller than the numbers for the numbers for the new accounts.

Perfect! That worked...even with the lack of information I provided :) Thank you so much for your help!
