Always do the backup backup before do anything the data files
What from the article have you tried yet?
I looked at method one, but i don't have any files with an underscore so tried to open the one that does not have the underscore - unsuccessful - i don't understand method 2
R&D is on it. A fix is coming later this week.
Does anyone at Sage realize that people run payroll on Jan 1st and need the payroll updates? This is the worst fiasco I've seen from Sage..... Luckily we dated all our cheques Dec 31st but I'm stuck not being able to access other information I need while I wait....... this is awful.
Tried the KB article as well - nothing worked.
Hi ltulloch,
Updated resources are now available regarding the Sage 50 CA 2020.1 conversion of data update issue.
This post http://1sa.ge/DUPS30q5YyC leads you to this new video https://youtu.be/tq3Nw3mO7Dc based on KB 102392
Apologies for the issues. I hope this helps.
Warm Regards,
Erzsi
Was just on chat . . . dude tells me it's got nothing to do with upgrade, that file is corrupt and wanted me to purchase support! COME ON SAGE. I need some clarity on how I am going to be able to process payrolls for Thursday? It won't let me use the old version, as it says it;s in the process of converting. I read the article, I watched the you tube video, and NOTHING!
Hi eddieblonde, so sorry for the delay and the experience with getting a support ticket started. Our system isn't letting me create one for you because of the payroll only plan type. I've just reviewed your chat convo. Where are you now with your data? A hotfix patch is now available, see this latest announcement with details on KB 102602.
Also note that late CRA changes not a part of the latest tax update mean that you'll need to manually update your employee claim amounts. See KB 102634 for steps to take (see 260-1009051 for the French article).
We'll post about this shortly.
Hello ETreds, where are you now with your data? A hotfix patch is now available, see this latest announcement with details on KB 102602.
Ok thanks, I’ll try that out.
i actually ended up restoring from the most recent old back up so I could get our work done. But I know I lost some work. I’m hoping I’ll be able to restore from the other back up once this issue has been fixed.
I tried this hotfix. I had downloaded 2020.1. It still doesn't allow me to open my company files. I tried restoring from several backups as well and I still get 'company files can't be opened' message. this is getting ridiculous.
Make sure the names in file form and what you named your Simply are the EXACT same. I had restored from a back up, named it one thing when I saved it, and then changed the name of my Simply app and it gave me the same message.
I tried the hotfix exactly as shown (although I don't have the Accountant Edition just Sage 50 Accounting Version 2020. Before I did the download I fired up Sage to make sure I had 2020.1. After the downloading then file delete and replace I started Sage, it said it had to update my files. OK. After the upgrade (~10 Minutes) I get the message "unable to open company file" What's wrong?
Hi I tried this out, unfortunately I still can't restore from my most recent back up. The backups seem to be in SAI format not CAB. How can I convert these? If I can't restore from my most recent back up then I will have lost all my work including my December 2019 payroll. ):
Hi ETreds,
When you launch Sage 50, run it as admin manually by right clicking the Sage 50 icon and selecting "run as administrator."
This should launch a welcome screen similar to the one below. Depending on your backup format. If your backup file extension is .CAB select “Restore from backup”. OR If your backup folder has a .SAI file and .SAJ sub-folder with matching names choose the “select an existing company” option to locate the backup manually. Alternatively, if you have a sample company file open, then these options below are also available via the File menu.
