Assembled Items Recall/Edit

Hi everyone,

I am new to Sage50 Canadian edition, any help is appreciated.

I am using Pre Sag50 2016. Several products have been built using Build from Item feature, and were recorded as Lot# of the product. I used - Inventory & Service module - Build From Item Assembly, not individual item BUILD TAB. Because each Lot# of product I build is unique and cost and components were different.

My question:   Can I recall or edit already built item based on the Lot#? Can I review the original record of built history?

    Hi Linda, you can not edit what is already build, you can unbuild it using negative quantity (if components has not been modify)
    Premium doesn't have much on report on this, Quantum however does have build, assembly and component list report, you can try the trial version see if it works for you.

    Which means I need to record the build history using excel for example, manually outside of the sage at the time when I build items if I want to check later.

    Hi Linda,

    In "Build from Item Assembly", you could save each Lot as a separate recurring transaction, and recall it later if you want to reference it or to modify and run it again.

    If you want to add items / costs for some forgotten components to items still on hand, you can do another Build from Item Assembly or Inventory Adjustment and add just the additional items to adjust the cost on-hand.

    In Bill of Materials, you just un-build by recording a negative quantity, update the item's bill-of-materials in the Build tab for that item, then build it again. The item cost is automatic, always the individual item cost (whether building or un-building with a negative quantity.

    If each batch is quite different, you may want to use a new build item SKU each time.

    I believe that the transaction detail of all Item Builds is stored in the version you have, and can be reported on with 'third-party' report software, but the built-in reports are only in the Quantum Edition.

    Your detailed info is a great help.

    I can trace each Lot# of each item I built in Bill of Material Assemble Journal, also including the items built from Build Tab through inventory/service panel. The cost based on their specific accounts sub-total, for example: raw materials or manufacturing, or other;

    But I cannot find components list and each component's individual cost when I built them, which means I cannot look for the original detailed build process. (I will record as recurring in the future for each item I build, so I can check or edit later, or build new lot# of item).

    Where can I find the transaction details as you said? Can you please let me know how I can get original record when I built them as a components list? What is the third party software I can export the report?
