Receipts journal gone

I am unable to post a payment to my receipts journal although there is an amount owing when I open my receipts it does not show any amounts owing for any of my customers although the amount is still in my receivables ledger and balance sheet but this is not reflected in the receipts?!!  Help.

  • Any time you do not see what you think you should see in your reports, check the dates of each report to make sure you are looking at the correct period and if you are comparing two reports, make sure the dates on both are the same and covering the range you are interested in.

    Your subject says "Receipts journal gone" but it can't be gone if you say

    To me this means you can open the Receipts module but you don't see anything unpaid.  You didn't say whether you selected a customer or not.  You won't see anything owing until you select the correct customer.

    What does your Reports, Receivables, Customer Aged Detail report show for that customer?  Does it show an invoice and payment if you select the last possible date from the dropdown?  Or does it show just an invoice?

    When you open the Receipts module and click the Include Fully Paid Invoices/Deposits option on the toolbar or Receipts menu, and select the customer, what do you see?

    The amounts owing still are in customer aged, balance sheet, and all other reports but when I open the receipts journal there are no amounts showing in any of the customers so I am unable to post the receipt. The dates and the customer dropdowns are correct.?

    click the Include Fully Paid Invoices/Deposits option on the toolbar or Receipts menu

    If you did, then you should at least see the original invoices for all customers even if they have been paid.

    Did you try to look up a Receipt for the customer?  And if so, did it pay the invoice you are trying to pay now?

    What is the Latest Transaction Date in your file and did you run your reports to that date?  This is found under Setup, Settings, Company, Information or at the bottom of the date dropdown on the Balance Sheet or Customer Aged Detail report.
