As most of you have already known, Sage 50 is not an email software. Therefore, it needs help from other email client.
If you log onto your web mail account like Gmail or Hotmail through your web browser, that will not work because this is not a true email client. If you need to use those web mails, you need to set them up in your email software. Below is a link showing how to setup Gmail in Outlook.
If you use outlook 2010 or 2013 in 64-bit, office 365 - the cloud based email program or the web based Outlook(https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&ct=1393271188&rver=6.1.6206.0&sa=1&ntprob=1&wp=MBI_SSL_SHARED&wreply=https:%2F%2Fmail.live.com%2F%3Fowa%3D1%26owasuffix%3Dowa%252f&id=64855&snsc=1&cbcxt=mail ), they will not work also as they are not supported by Sage 50.
The click-to-run version of Outlook is also NOT supported by Sage 50. The link below shows you how to verify whether your outlook is a click-to-run application or not.
We recommend you to use a MAPI-compliant email clients. Example are Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 in 32-bit. You can also use the Windows Live mail. Please make sure you use the desktop one but not the web version. For more information about how to email with Windows Live Mail, you can follow the link below.

This is genius! i've wasted about 7 hours today trying to sort the outlook issue. Sage now recognises outlook after editing the privileges to mapi32.dl. THANK YOU!
I had Sage 50 with Thunderbird running with no problems. I updated to Office 2016 from an older Office installation and the email would not work no matter what I did.
Thunderbird was the default program and properly set. You are not able to remove Outlook from the installation. Repairing the installation will not work. I reboot many times.
The only correct solution was the registry edit.
Emailing now works as before.
I have windows 10 and Gmail is what I use for emails... I see you mention something below about print as pdf (i usually do that for my documents but Sage does not give me that option so I know its a setup thing). How do I set that up? Is it also available for Windows 10? Do you have any other free solution? my business is too small to start spending money at the moment.
Randy wrote at November 24, 2016 a functional procedure to run MAPI sending email invoice in SAGE 50 with Office Home and Business 2013 Click to Run release.
Randy thank you so much for all your research, I had the same problem as you. I followed you on different forums about this problem.
The solution is here : community.sagecentralna.com/.../90664
Just put a String key "MAPI" ="1" here :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem]
There are two 'click-to-run' versions of Office - one that's Online - it doesn't work if you're disconnected from the Internet.
The other 'click-to-run' (the one nearly everyone has) is installed on the workstation and WILL work with any of the Canadian Editions of Sage 50 that have Email. If anyone at Sage would like to argue that their tech document is correct, please provide me your Email address and I'll happily send you every document from the 'Universal Construction' sample file.
Fixing the workstation so that MAPI works with Sage 50 may be a challenge sometimes, but it absolutely, categorically does not require some mythical / special MSDN Office media installation that costs eight hundred clams a throw.
