Suddenly Unable to Log In to Sage

SOLVED

Yesterday morning I was using Sage no problem, then all of a sudden after my lunch break I was no longer able to log in. I have updated and restarted my computer, but that didn't help. The version of Sage is current and I am the only one in the company who uses it and I always access it from the same laptop. The error I'm receiving says:

"You have a valid login but you are not authorized to use this feature. Contact your Sage ID administrator so you can use this feature"

The thing is, I am the Sage ID Administrator and the "feature" I'm trying to access is the entire software/database. Sage support was of course no help. Gave me a list of about 10 possible resolutions, some of which involved creating a new windows login, or completely deleting the reinstalling our system. Has anyone dealt with this and found a resolution that was quick and didn't have to involve a systems administrator?

Hello , this forum is for Sage Cloud Accounting customers. Could you confirm which Sage product you are using so we can forward your question to the right forum? It sounds like Sage 50 but just needs to confirm first.

    Thanks

It's Sage 50 Accounting. I guess I'm in the wrong forum. I'll delete and repost there.

Thanks for confirming which software you are using.  We will move this post to the Sage 50 Canada Support Group for you.

    Thanks,

    Derek

Problem is resolved. I had to do the following:

    • Disconnect from the internet
    • Open Sage 50 (I selected "Open the last company you worked on", as I usually do). You'll get a warning saying your access will be read-only because of the internet connection issues, click OK.
    • Sage should successfully boot up. Save a copy of your database by going to File > Save a Copy. (I saved a copy of our database in the same location as the existing copy but just gave it a new name.)
    • Exit Sage
    • Open Sage again but this time ensure to choose the option of "Select an Existing Company". Select the new database version you just previously saved.
    • Hit OK and hopefully everything will work again

I had also updated my Sage password prior to this (using the "Forgot your Password" feature), although I was still getting the error afterwards so I don't think that actually made a difference. But if you're still stuck, I would suggest  trying that, as apparently your account can be locked for whatever reason and the password reset fixes that.
