Sage 50 vs the cloud

SUGGESTED

So my bosses are talking about using the cloud I am not familiar with this? Could someone help to explain it. Does it just mean that everything is saved to the cloud instead of on a hard drive? if that is correct has anyone had any problems that I would need to watch for? Would I still be able to work remotely using the cloud?

Just needing to understand before I say yes and then not know what I am doing LOL.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi Sherry:

With a Sage 50 subscription for Remote Data Access (RDA) you can work remotely in the cloud and work with your data on your stand-alone computer. Actually using RDA or standalone Sage is stored on your hard drive. If it is setup properly it works well, but in the cloud it is usually slower but accessible. The only issue I have encountered is custom forms do not move over from one machine to another. So  it is a matter of just having the copy available locally on your computer or remote computer. When you are on a subscription you must pay to keep your software up and running yearly/monthly depending on your arrangements with Sage.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you for your feedback,

This is helpful for me. I just don't want to make changes and then find out my system doesn't work the same any more. Or features are different from what I am use to. All my forms are custom made, I have had to alter all the form.

Once you alter a temp plate it will not let you save in the same spot you have to save to a different spot on your Hard Drive. Unless you know something that I don't know?

Because they are also talking about going to QB for some of their features. Their payroll login program talks to QB but not to sage. I am not sure if I am ready for QB change just yet so they have now brought up the cloud idea.

    thanks

    Sherry:

The Sage 50 software works the same whether you work in the cloud or from your stand-alone computer. The features are identical. Your Sage forms can be saved in the Forms folder of Program Files (x86) once you save them initially where Windows dictates you.

There are customized applications which work with Sage for many of the external payroll providers.

    You are most welcome!
